Mandatory Annual VHA Privacy Policy Training
In accordance with VHA Handbook 1605.1, Privacy and Release of information, all VHA personnel including employees, volunteers and students must be trained at least annually and on an ongoing basis on privacy policies to include the requirements of Federal privacy and information laws, regulations, and VHA policy. New personnel must be trained within 30 day soft employment and annually thereafter.
Personnel may complete the VHA Privacy Policy annual training module available on the VHA Palo Alto Health Care System's intranet at http://vapaweb/ or through the Internet at http://www.vhaprivacytraining.net/frame.htm. Please note that reviewing the web course or attending new employee orientation does not satisfy the mandatory requirement.
In addition the the above the following must be done:
a. complete the evaluation at the end of the course
b. print a certificate of the course
c. submit the certificate to your service chief or designee
Personnel who do not have computer access may complete the printed version of the course and use a "Satellite" electronic Scranton form to document completion.
Those who use ETTS for tracking their mandatory training should take the posttest to automatically update their ETTS record (taking the web training does not automatically update your training record). For all others compliance will be verified by the presence of a certificate of completion or completed Scranton form.
